Strength & Conditioning
The Strength and Conditioning team at the High Performance Sport Institute develops innovative, tailored training programs and methodologies, enhancing athletes’ physical capabilities for peak performance.
Strength and Conditioning is more than just lifting weights. Strength and Conditioning prepares athletes for the physical demands of their sport. In addition to conducting training sessions, our team conducts Research and Development to develop new methodologies, such as novel training and warm up methods, for enhancing athletic performance. Strength and Conditioning coaches work alongside national sport coaches to design programs that are evidence-based, performance focused, and tailored to the needs of the sport/athlete/team. The utility of innovative methods and technology for coaching and training monitoring facilitate the development of athletes’ sports-specific skills.
The support provided by our Strength and Conditioning team include:
Improving the strength base of our athletes
Design sport- and athlete-specific training program that are performance-focused
Improving our athletes’ multi-planar movement through change of direction and speed training sessions
Measuring and monitoring our athletes’ strength and functional performance
Advising and counselling our athletes about strength training and conditioning methods
Researching ways and strategies to optimise our athletes’ sporting performance.
